Warp and Woof

This doghouse was our entry to Barkitecture Austin 2017, a custom doghouse design shown / silent auction / fundraiser event benefitting local nonprofit organizations helping animals.

We love having a dog in our office, so we designed an interior doghouse for the workplace. The name “Warp and Woof” comes from a term used to describe the strands of yarn in a woven fabric. Our design was based upon the interweaving of two primary materials: cypress wood, reclaimed from a past project, and industrial felt, a renewable product made from sheep’s wool. We were fascinated by the cypress wood’s durability, which makes for a sturdy yet light frame, and the felt’s tactile and acoustical dampening properties, which provides for a comfortable and protective place for one’s office dog.
