Dason Whitsett

Principal, AIA, LEED AP

Dason brings a passion for systems thinking and building craft to Pollen. He integrates expertise in building performance with aesthetics and other design considerations design in an effort to create projects that are beautiful and sustainable. His technical specialties include energy simulation, solar design and building science.

In addition to his work at Pollen, Dason teaches in The University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture Sustainable Design Program. His courses at UT blend technical topics with a qualitative perspective on their significance. Currently, he teaches two courses, Energy Modeling and the Design Process and Solar Geometry and Energy Flow in Buildings.

Previously, Dason worked for Koning Eizenberg Architecture leading published and award-winning projects including one that received the first Savings by Design Energy Efficiency Integration Award. He later established a design/build practice, Dason Whitsett Architect, in Santa Monica, California. With Pollen, his various interests have come full circle forming a practice which brings together design excellence, sustainability and construction services to create extraordinary environments.

Dason has a Master of Science in Sustainable Design degree from UT Austin where he won the Outstanding Thesis Award. He is a LEED Accredited Professional, a licensed architect in Texas and California, a licensed building contractor in California, and a member of the Austin Energy Green Building Program.

He is also a member of the American Institute of Architects and has served on the Board of Directors of the United States Green Building Council Central-Texas Balcones Chapter as well as chairing that organization’s Advocacy Committee. Presently he is Advocacy Adviser to the chapter.
